DistroKid teams with Twitch to help indie artists earn money from live streams via Twitch Affiliate Program – Music Business Worldwide

Independent music distributor DistroKid – which says it distributes approximately a third of all new music released around the globe – has partnered with live-streaming platform Twitch to offer qualifying DistroKid members the opportunity to get access to the Twitch Affiliate Program.

Joining the Twitch Affiliate Program allows creators to earn money when they stream live on Twitch.

According to a blog post published by DistroKid Founder and CEO Philip Kaplan today (February 24), qualifying DistroKid members will be those “who have shown a level of dedication and success in music”.

In addition to channel subscriptions,  Twitch Affiliates can earn money from Bits, which are virtual goods that a viewer can use use to ‘Cheer’ a channel, giving a share of the revenue to the the streamer.

Twitch Affiliates can also earn a share of revenue from video ads played on their channels and are able to determine the length and frequency of mid-roll ad breaks.

To be eligible, artists will need to be a DistroKid member, have a release live for at least 30 days and have a minimum of three streams on Spotify.
